The Maryhill Ratz present

The 2017 RVOD G-RIDE

At the Historic Maryhill Loops Road
June 24 – 25

This is special addition of the “RVOD” G-Ride at the Historic Maryhill Loops Road. This is not a competition, just gathering of world class athletes and a weekend of support, coaching and, of course, skateboarding on the legendary Maryhill Loops Road.

This is special addition of the “RVOD” G-Ride at the Historic Maryhill Loops Road. This is a gathering of world class athletes and a weekend of racing, coaching, and, of course, skateboarding on the legendary Maryhill Loops Road.

This event is open to all skill levels, from the never-ever to experienced racers. The small packs of skaters give the riders much needed experience and a shortened version of the road is available for those who wish to build their skills and confidence to tackle the whole hill. We will be drawing names for the Dash-4-Cash, where, if your name is drawn, you race one on one with a Ratz for $100 cash. We also will have the SL,UT outlaw race in Saturday with the winner taking home $100 in cash!

In honor of Ryan Vanderveen, we want to bring awareness to depression and other mental health issues that someone you know, if not yourself, is suffering from. You are not alone and do not be afraid to seek help where ever you can. You may know someone, maybe someone very close, who took their own life this last year and we would like very much to prevent that from happening again.

We are partnering with the Maryhill Winery to provide a shuttle to the Winery for some tasting and tours.

As an added bonus the legendary Carlos Santana will be playing the Maryhill Winery Sunday June 25 at 7pm. This is a sold out show and the Ratz have a limited number of specially priced general admission tickets available for $65 (less than face value!) The Winery is located about 5 miles from the bottom of the hill. Go to their website for more information. (http://www.maryhillwinery.com/)

The Ratz and Skate School (http://skateboardsafety.com/index.php ) are teaming up to bring you “Maryhill University”! Last years very successful Skills Camp will be returning on Friday afternoon June 23rd and continue throughout the weekend G-Ride, with on course coaching and difficulty options for different skill levels. Less experienced riders will have a chance to learn the skills they’ll need them to ride the Loops road from the top by the end of this 3 day camp. High speed safety skills make the difference between falling and crashing! Learn 3 ways to slow down and 4 ways to stop at speed, how to identify different types of turns, cornering techniques and the relationship between hand sliding and wheel sliding.

By Sunday advanced riders will be learning start techniques, power pushing, the tactics of drafting, passing, cornering and advancing. Learn about how king pin angles, bushing and wheels sizes, shapes and duros can all add up to an improved performance if set up correctly for the course and it’s ever changing conditions. Riders will also be given individualized ‘Homework’ to help them continue to improve and encouraged to set goals for racing. Coaches will include Robin McGuirk, Joe Lehm, Matt Kienzle and Emma Daigle.

Skills Camp is an additional $85, plus local sales tax, to the G-Ride fee and you’ll get a “Maryhill University” T-Shirt!

The G-Ride entry fee is $140.00 USD. You can register at www.maryhillratz.com. Entry fee includes two days of safely riding the most famous skateboarding hill in the world, a personalized laminated badge and lanyard, a Maryhill Ratz water bottle and lunch each day.

Leathers are REQUIRED as are a full face helmet, gloves. We will offer the “no leather tax” of $20 for the weekend (paid in cash on site as a donation to the Klickitat County EMT’s), which will allow you to ride the hill without leathers.

Spectators and supporters are welcome and food and beverages available on site.

Gates open at 8am, a mandatory riders meeting at 8:45 on Saturday. The first shuttle starts at 9am and the last shuttle is at 5pm. We will try and get as many runs as possible each day. As you know from previous years, this event happens rain or shine.

See ya there!
